I believe that the key to ending the yo yo cycle of dieting lies in my 3 step process:
1. Determine through your bloodwork, or through a competent health care professional, if you have a metabolic disorder. If you do, you must address this first. You cannot expect to lose weight, or even stay on a diet if you are battling a health issue that is constantly working against you. Once you?ve isolated your health issues, and there may be more than one, you must address these issues either through your diet, supplements, or even medication if this is necessary. Build your diet around your metabolism.
2. Create a balanced diet for yourself. Everyone is different and has different health challenges, environmental influences, stresses, and genetic makeup. Work with the principles that I?ve laid down for you in this website and build your diet accordingly.
3. Don?t give up. Most people make the mistake of totally giving up their diet when things don?t go well. Instead, I recommend to do a weekly analysis of your successes and failures. Find out what didn?t work, use the basic diet that you are working on and make changes according to the week?s failures. When you are driving in your car and make a wrong turn, you don?t just decide to go give up and go home. Instead you make the necessary adaptations to your itinerary until you get to your destination. The same applies here. Don?t give up. Make the fine tuning, and stay on track. You will achieve your health goals if you maintain a focus and stay persistent.
